 Message from Jill Varley

Former Teachers of the late 1940s and 1950s

Both my father Ralph Innamorati (Alfonso) and my aunt Lilian Innamorati taught at Greenmore College (late 40s early 50s??). I was only young so my memory may be flawed. My aunt was Mr Morris's secretary but also taught Shorthand and Typing. My father Physical Education. I remember going to a Guy Fawkes evening and being afraid of the fireworks and my father appeared to be in charge. I hid in the room where food was being served.

We emigrated to Australia in 1952.

Can anyone help with this enquiry from Raviv Laor

His father Eliahu Laor (may have gone by Eddie or Edward) was from Israel -

(born in 1945) - Raviv thinks his father may have been there in the

closing years of the 50s, but he does not know much about his time there.

Any information would be useful

Brendan Greevy left Greenmore 50 years ago this year has sent good wishes to all his former friends and colleagues and he says he would be pleased to hear from anyone who has survived and to contact him through his email  b.greevy@btinternet.com. [Nigel: I am only three years behind you Brendan and that is quite an incredible thought.]

I have received an email from Dudley Kernick the former sportsmaster and football club manager of Hinckley who is now in the United States. I will forward any emails I receive to him.

I have received a delightful letter from Paul Belton who was at Greenmore from1958 until 1964. He is now based in Manchester and has many happy memories of his time at school. See contacts page.

See the reunion pages for some of those old familiar faces that have been put on from previous meetings.

With almost 16,000 hits on the School Photos page this is the most popular page so please let me have a few more. Email me with photographs as small j.peg attachments and I will upload onto the site thanks and regards Nigel.

  1. I wonder if anyone remembers me from about 1, 944 - my name was Rita M. Bate and I was firstly at Farnborough House, then on Bristol Road and finnally at Priory Road. I remember teachers: the Shirley brothers, Mrs. Rose (taught Religion). Cannot remember many pupils but Louis Seager, Abigail Goodman, Muriel Colls, Eunice ?, Judith ? Gillian and Naomi Morris. Would love to hear from any of my contemporaries. I remember Mr. Morris with great affection.

  5. WHAT BECAME OF MR BUTLER ,A TEACHER BETEEN 1956 AND 1960
    REPLY
    1. I was never taught by Mr. Butler but remember him as having jet black hair swept back with lots of Brylcreme and always wore a dark suit. Unfortunately he had a accident walking into a metal framed window that had been left open to one of the classroom buildings down Priory Road, furthest away from the main school and had scar on his forehead. He may have taught science subjects
